The Role of the Board
The Board leads on the governance and assurance framework of the association. It defines and ensures compliance with our values and strategic objectives.
It prioritises how we use our resources and monitors the performance of the management team who run the company day to day. Within that overall purpose, the roles and responsibilities of the Board are:
- Strategic direction
- Asset management
- Scheme approvals
- Financial management
- Staffing matters
- Governance and decision-making
- Board arrangements
- External relations

Kaye is an experienced Chair with over 20 years in public sector executive and senior management roles. Her governance expertise in delivering complex national and regional change programmes in regulated sectors, and Board roles in the social housing sector since 2003, led to her appointment as Senior Independent Director and Chair of Barcud’s Governance and Remuneration Committee.
Kaye also Chairs Gloucestershire Managed Services, the wholly owned subsidiary estates, facilities and capital delivery company of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is an Associate Non-Executive Director of the Trust.

Carys is a former Director of Social Services with over 39 years’ experience in social care, both in Children & Adult services. She is Ceredigion born and bred and continues to live in the county. Carys has extensive experience of multi-agency working and is committed to strengthening partnership working. A first language Welsh speaker, Carys is a Registered Social Worker and currently works as an Independent Social Work Consultant. Carys is a Member of the National Independent Safeguarding Board (Wales) and a Panel Member for Social Care Wales.
Carys worked in Ceredigion for most of her career and established strong working relationships with colleagues across Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Powys. Carys also has previous Board Member experience having served on the Boards of Cymdeithas Tai Dyffryn Teifi and Cantref in the past.
