Following feedback, and in consultation with our tenants and as part of the Barcud Older People’s Strategy, we have changed the name of our Sheltered Schemes to Independent Living Schemes. Tenants wanted this name change as they believe this better reflects what the schemes are, which is a place for them to live independently but with support available, should their needs change.
Mr Green who lives in one of Barcud’s Independent Living schemes in Aberystwyth said, “Olwen is amazing, she goes above and beyond for everyone here, it’s a shame that not everyone appreciates her as much as I do. I wasn’t in a good place when I moved in but thanks to Olwen, I am now more confident and regularly use the scheme lounge for socialising.”
